In today's fast-paced digital world where social media and emails reign supreme, the art of letter-writing has certainly lost some of its appeal. What used to take weeks, now takes seconds, bing bang boom DONE and on to the next task.
But slowing down can be a powerful thing. As Christians we are called to a life of intentionality, and writing letters is the perfect demonstration of this very thing. In putting pen to paper, we are able to reflect, organise our thoughts and express ourselves more deliberately, all while strengthening the bonds of connection with someone we love.
In fact, of the 27 books in the New Testament, 21 of them are letters! So may we follow in the footsteps of our Biblical role models and write letters to one another filled with love, courage and connection that will light a fire in the heart of those who receive them.
